Fuyu - 冬 - ふゆ - Winter

Kanji of the day is Fuyu - 冬 - ふゆ

ン(氷) - It is a hieroglyph (sacred carving) representing a knot of thread. Later, the word 冫 (ice, nisui) was added to the word, which represents winter season. It is also said to be a hieroglyph depicting food hanging from a thread.
In other words, the kanji is for trying to survive the winter season when food is scarce.
